Introducing "Dilworth Cares"

DCDA cares. Do you believe it? It’s true.

Through the DCDA, a new outreach program called “Dilworth Cares” is being created to make it easier for each of us, as Dilworthians, to show our concern for others. The Dilworth community already does so much for each other and for various non-profits and we, as individuals, all have our own “causes” and passions. “Dilworth Cares” will help us get organized and take our efforts a step further.

“Dilworth Cares” will provide information to our community about many different ways we can connect with individuals and agencies in need. For example, if you ask yourself “Should I give my slightly used maternity clothes and infant toys to Goodwill or is there another organization which focuses on motherhood that might be a better fit?” To find out, you will be able (soon) to look at “Giving Back” under Dilworth Cares and learn about Florence Crittenton, a maternity home for at risk pregnant women right here in Dilworth.  “Giving back” will link you to charities looking for what you have to give away. What about your time? Are you thinking that you would like to volunteer in a new way but don’t want to have to drive all the way across town to volunteer for two hours? Soon you will be able to check out “Volunteer Opportunities” and see if any of the agencies in our area might be something that you are interested in.

An exciting initiative of “Dilworth Cares” is the selection of one organization as the primary focus of our fundraising and volunteer efforts for an entire year. The “Dilworth Cares” year will kick off with the Dilworth Home Tour each September. Dilworth School will be the focus of our attention for the coming year 2010-2011. During the Home Tour, you will have an opportunity to learn about Dilworth School and how you can help this new neighborhood school get off to a strong start!

Although we are very excited about the opportunity to make a real difference for the organization chosen as the year’s campaign, we are committed to supporting other needs and causes throughout the year. Stay informed!  Look for an article in each Quarterly providing a calendar of upcoming events and a summary of recent endeavors. Get into the habit of checking out the “Dilworth Cares” link on the website every week. If you would like to receive emails from “Dilworth Cares”, please email your contact information to Nancy Kramer at  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Community bulletin boards are being placed in area businesses to keep you informed of activities and needs throughout the community. Please let us know if, as a business owner, you have the space and would like to be a community outpost.  The “Dilworth Cares” Steering Committee is in place and anxious to connect with the community’s needs. Finally, “Dilworth Cares” can serve as a center point of communication for all of us. If you or someone you know is in need, “Dilworth Cares” can draw upon the wealth of knowledge found among our neighbors and seek to find solutions for those who need support. Look for much more information about “Dilworth Cares” here in the coming months.
