a Visual and Performing Arts Magnet
      By Amy and Cliff Jarrett

Dilworth, a visual and performing arts magnet, is becoming an increasingly attractive neighborhood school option as well.  This quarter, we visit with two Dilworth neighborhood families who have chosen Dilworth School as their new school home.  Deborah and Mick Edwards live on Mt. Vernon Avenue and transferred their daughter Kendall from another public school last year.  She is now a third grader at Dilworth.  Laura and John Rice, who live on East Worthington Avenue and moved to Charlotte from Texas three years ago, have four children.  Their son James, a kindergartner, will be their first child to attend Dilworth Elementary; they also have one middle schooler and two high schoolers.   We talked with Deborah Edwards and Laura Rice and discussed how they reached the decision to enroll their children at Dilworth Elementary School.
