Time Again for Dilworth Little League

Fifty-four years ago, the Dilworth Little League was just an idea in the minds of a few dedicated neighbors. Last year, during its 53rd season, over 400 children participated. Teams from Dilworth piled up an impressive record. Some teams played over twenty regular season games (including double headers!), won the Mecklenburg County Champions Tournament, and finished as the runner-up in the District III All Start Tournament (for 11 & 12 year olds). It's almost time to hear the familiar ring of the ball on the bat once again down at Freedom Park. Spring Registration takes place on consecutive Saturdays in February (the 2rd and the 9th) with evaluations to follow in March. Get the details at www.dyaa.net.

Loaves and Fishes

Help Loaves & Fishes restock its foodpantry shelves for the coming months. The Loaves & Fishes Food Drive runs February 2-10, 2008. You can donate canned goods at any one of eight area drop-off locations orany Harris Teeter Store. Boy Scouts will be going door to door "Scouting for Food" Feb. 2. If they miss your house, feel free to stop by one of the drop-off locations through Feb. 10. Priority needs include canned fruit, 100% fruit juice, pork & beans, peanut butter, canned meat and soup.
